Based on the 1930’s novel, King Kong: Alive on Broadway is a contemporary take on the classic tale of beauty and the beast. It’s 1931 and New York City is a place of pressure, desperation, but also hope. Enter Ann Darrow, a fearless young actress with a steel will and dreams that reach as high as the just-completed Empire State Building. After struggling to survive in the big city, Ann finds her big break in the form of Carl Denham, a fast-talking, maverick filmmaker who promises to make her the star of his next big adventure movie. Throwing caution to the wind, Ann voyages with Carl to the uncharted and mysterious Skull Island, where they set out to find a monstruous ape known as Kong. While Ann finds an unexpected kindred spirit in the untameable creature, Denham hatches a plan to capture Kong and present him to the world. At the center of this 21st century reimagining is a 20-foot high, 2,000 pound gorilla, brought to life by a Tony Award-winning team of artists and technicians, who deliver this epic myth through an innovative mix of animatronics, puppetry, music and stagecraft. King Kong: Alive on Broadway is a larger-than-life encounter with a legend too big to contain.
